Estrogen Dominance Symptoms
Before we move on defining estrogen dominance symptoms, we need to
know what exactly estrogen is. Estrogen is defined as vital component in maintaining women’s health &
wellbeing, by Dr. Michael Lam. Estrogen is the main sexual hormone in the
female’s reproductive system that is responsible for increase of decrease in sexual drive of females. It is
also vital to the menstrual cycle. Even though estrogen is found both in males & females it is usably found in
abundance amongst females especially those capable of concaving babies.
Estrogen normalizes the menstrual period cycle and sets up the uterus to get
pregnant by elevating and thickening the endometrium, therefore it is responsible for directly effecting the
ovaries, breasts, cervix, fallopian tubes and the vagina.
Disease related to estrogen is known as estrogen dominance disease. There are many
symptoms of estrogen dominance and they need to be studied before moving with the final cure of this disease.
Estrogen dominance is defined as an abundance of estrogen in females over the natural progesterone
levels.
The abnormality may lead to several symptoms and Dr. Lee says that even though
females having lower amounts of estrogen could also develop excess estrogen if progesterone is not up to the level
of estrogen to provide proper balance.
In other words estrogen and progesterone levels need to be in balance to avoid
getting estrogen dominance disease. Estrogen dominance is a very common disease that can be cured if caught on its
early stages. The following is a comprehensive list of estrogen dominance symptoms amongst
females:

The above mentioned are the most common types of estrogen dominance symptoms. There
could be other small symptoms too that could take place. However in case any of the above one happens, rush
immediately for medical assistance in order to catch the disease and cure it. There are two main cures for this
disease namely Hormone replacement therapy & Estrogen replacement
therapy often quoted as HRT & ERT.
Hormone replacement therapy:
HRT is a medical treatment procedure used for treating excess estrogen
or estrogen dominance in females. It is a surgical process in which menopausal women get treated via special
therapies to get cure from this disease. It is based upon the idea of using medicines that boost the levels of
progesterone levels to balance existing estrogen levels in the body. More of the times, it is known as treatment,
instead of therapy. HRT can also be used to treat infertility amongst females.
Usually low doses of estrogen or progesterone is given to patients to balance the levels of estrogen and
progesterone, whereas sometimes testosterone may also get included in it. Creams, tablets, patches, vaginal rings,
gels, troches, or injection are the most common ways used during the HRT process. The way of delivering HRT varies
from patient to patient depending upon the situation and medical condition of this disease and it’s after effects
damages. HRT is not a long term solution as doctors doubt its credibility over maximum 2 years of usage.
HRT does not come without its risks. Based upon studies conducted by Women’s Health
Initiative of the National Institutes of Health in 2002 stated that those females receiving treatment of hormone
deficiency via HRT are at even increased risks of breast cancer, strokes & heart attacks. These studies were
later reconfirmed in another study conducted in the UK referred to as The
Million Women Study. As a consequence of these discoveries, there had been a significant drop in the number of
females opting for HRT. However, for those with severe cases had no choice but to opt for HRT. As a result it was
concluded by those studies that lowest possible doses of HRT should be taken in the shortest time possible via
normal methods instead of surgical ones to avoid increased risks of breast cancer and strokes.
Number of other alternative solutions has also been advised by doctors and health
specialists around the world to get cure from this disease. These are bringing changes in diet including more
fruits, raw vegetables and consuming citrus fruits etc, along with inclusion of physical activity like walking,
jogging, running, swimming etc. These are however just precautionary measures used to avoid getting infected with
hormone deficiency diseases in the long run. The evidence of getting cured by alternative means is not prominent
amongst studies. We hope this article helped you in knowing about the most common types of estrogen dominance symptoms.
