Pregnancy Test After Iui

If you have waited a long time to finally conceive a child, you may be very anxious to take a pregnancy test after iui.

To be able to see that line or plus sign or whatever shows up on the stick indicating a positive result, is something that you will remember for the rest of your life. But how soon can you take a pregnancy test after iui and get an accurate result.

If you are one of the many women who have spent hours, days, maybe even months thinking about what it would be like to be able to stop going to the fertility doctor because you finally got the desired result you were after, then you probably know all about the different ways available to women

travelling the infertility path. Finding out that you cannot conceive naturally is heartbreaking for many women. The good news is that there are many different treatment options.

After you realize that iui, or intrauterine insemination, may be the perfect way for you to become pregnant, the day that you can take that pregnancy test after iui cannot come soon enough. If you are thinking of trying intrauterine insemination as a way to become pregnant despite fertility issues, then you should learn all you can about when to expect signs of pregnancy after the iui is performed.

While you may prefer to take a blood test at your doctor’s office when you think that the procedure was a success, your doctor will suggest that you test after iui with a home pregnancy test first. Since the tests that you take at home is almost as accurate as one that you would take at a doctor’s office, you may save yourself a trip in the unfortunate event that the pregnancy test after iui turns out negative.

After you have an iui, or intrauterine insemination, the doctor or nurse will tell you to wait 10 days after the procedure before you take a pregnancy test at home. If you take a test before the 10 days, you may not get an accurate result. On one hand, you may in fact be pregnant, but if you test too early, you could get a false negative as your hormone level will not be high enough to be detected by the home test.

On the other hand, it has happened, though not as frequently that some women can get false positives from testing too soon after a procedure. Keep in mind that there may be other factors that could indicate a pregnancy even before you take a pregnancy test after iui. If you have sore breasts, that could be an indication of pregnancy. Some women may even experience other common symptoms long before they take a home pregnancy test, but that is not true of everyone.

Even if you think that you have enough symptoms to take a pregnancy test after iui before the 10 day wait is up, you should try to hold on as long as possible. Once you get to that day when you can take a test, you will be so grateful that you waited. Of course, there will be some women who will not get a positive result when they take a pregnancy test after iui.

If you are unsuccessful at getting pregnant from your first iui, understand that you are not alone and there are many other options to consider that will get you closer to achieving pregnancy. If your first iui was an unmedicated cycle, you may want to ask your doctor about trying a combination of clomid and iui. This is an option that has worked well for many women who want some help with trying to conceive, but are not ready or maybe cannot afford in vitro fertilization.

Make sure that if you start taking clomid to increase your chances of a successful iui cycle, that you understand the side effects of the drug. Though clomid is not nearly as powerful as many hormone injections that some women receive when trying to get pregnant, it can still cause hormonal shifts that some women will be unable to deal with. If the side effects of the drug are too much for you to handle be sure speak with your doctor to see what other alternatives may fit your needs.

No matter what the result, taking a pregnancy test after iui is a big deal. Whether the test comes up positive or negative, it could mean a big change in your life. A positive result means that as long as everything else goes well, you will have a baby in your arms in a matter of months. If it turns out negative, you may decide that you need to make a change to your plan in order to get that child into your arms as soon as possible.
