What is Conception
A lot of individuals are conscious about what is conception. Some
people may even think that pregnancy and conception is different from one another. But really, what is
conception? According to Biology, conception is the fertilzation
of the egg cell by the sperm cell which happens at the beginning of pregnancy. You may be wondering why ob-doctors
ussually ask you, the first day you have had your last menstrual cycle. Doctors ask that since that was the day of
your mestrual age and that ussually occurs two weeks ahead before conception takes place.
What is conception- Is it similar to
Pregnancy?
The answer is no. like what is mentioned from above of this article,
conception is the time in where the sperm cell fertilized the egg cell; and in where the fertilized egg cell is
then implanted on the uterus lining. On the other hand, pregnancy is the time after the conception. Pregnancy is
the time in where you carry a one or more offspring. Pregnancy generally pertains to the nine months time you carry
the fetus inside your womb.
What is conception -
and how does it work?
Ovulation is the main start of conception. Ovulation usually happens
approximately two weeks prior to the beginning of the next menstrual period. Ovulation happens this way: monthly, a
group of undeveloped follicles start to progress inside a follice- a semi fluid cyst. That happens monthly in one
of the ovary of the woman. Among the group of immature follicles, only one follicle will be selected to continue
the development. That certain selected follicle will then eventually alter the progression and maturation of all
the other follicles. In time that the follicle has reached maturity, it will be ruptured and then secretes the egg
from your ovary.
When the ovulation process is finished, the ruptured follicle then
develops into a certain structure called corpus luteum. Corpus luteum will then produce hormones called
progesterone and estrogen. In addition, the hormone progesterone will be responsible in the preparation of the
uterus lining by making it thick. This specific part of the uterus will be the place where the fertilized egg will
be implanted, if there would be a fertilized egg in the future.
The mature egg will then travels along the fallopian tube and remain
there until a sperm cell would meet her. The mature egg is ready and is viable for fertilization twenty four hours
after ovulation. Ovulation and fertilization usually happens approximately 2 weeks after your menstrual period. So
if you want to conceive and get pregnant, then you may need to note it in a calendar for you to get in timed with
your ovulation and fertilization.
Moreover, when there is no sperm to meet the mature egg cell, it will just result
into a normal menstrual period. What happens to this mature egg is that it degenerates and sloughs off, as well as
with the corpus luteum. this will then result to bleeding or what you called menstrual cycle.
On the other hand, when a sperm cell has been able to meet the mature
egg, the sperm cell will fertilize the egg. When the sperm cell was able to penetrate the egg cell, the
protein coating that prevents the sperm from entering it changes. In that event, fertilization starts. During
fertilization the genes of your baby are also then developed. And within the twenty four hours of fertilization,
the fertilized egg begins dividing itself into many cells. The fertilized egg or the embryo stays inside a
tube called fallopian tube for three days. As the fertilized egg reaches for the uterus for implantation, it
constinously splits up into several cells. At first the fertilized egg will transform into a solid blast of ball
called blastocyst. Before blastocyst reach for the uterus, it breaks itself from the protective covering. And
eventually, when it reached the endometrium and implanted itself, hormonal changes will then
happen. Some woman may notice a light spotting or light spot of blood for
one to two days. That would be an indication that implantation of the embryo takes place.
What is conception- the signs of
conception?
The most common sign of conception is missed menstrual period.
However, other signs can also be noticed like mild spotting which can an indication be of implantation. Nausea and
vomiting is also experienced by many, as well as with breast tenderness. Moreover, since these are just signs of conception, you still need to really confirm if it is conception. The signs
listed are broad and can sometimes be manifest with different health states or conditions.
However, according to certain studies eating and diet plays a
significant role in getting pregnant. When you say diet, it should mean that you include the right and proper foods
that are to be taken in. avoid those foods that are harmful to health and may lead you to gaining weight. As based
on studies, women who are thin or fat has a hard time in getting pregnant. When you eat nutritious foods, this will
enhance energy and give you healthier muscles. If you really are trying to conceive, also avoid drinking and
smoking habits. Add in your routine the proper exercise and increase water intake, since this may help in
cleansing. Also avoid and manage stress.
To sum it up, this article talks of what is conception all about and its process, and
the ways on how to make it possible. Always remember that conception is different from pregnancy.
